Working for familes
This year there is a  significant increases to family assistance.  In many cases more than $100 a week over last years entitlement.  Family Assistance can now be received weekly, fortnightly or at the end of year. 
If you decide to get none or a smaller amount during the year, you can still get the balance at the end of the year. 
But remember to be aware of getting too much, because you will have to replay it back. 
As your accountant we will in most cases need to give the IRD an estimate of your income.

Community Services Card
Self-employed are eligible for a card. This card provides subsidised medical treatment.
The card is income tested. As well there are special high use cards.

A simple statistic

Eighty to ninety of businesses survive the first year. By year five, sixty percent of new business are still surviving.

Smaller businesses without staff have lower survival rates. About one percent of all businesses have catastrophic failure.
